JAKOBOVITS Márta ceramic artist I Santău/Tasnádszántó, 22th of september 1944
Márta Jakobovits began her secondary school education in Carei/Nagykároly and then transferred to the Arany János Lyceum in Salonta/Nagyszalonta, graduating in 1961. From 1961-64 she was student at the College of Architecture in Oradea/Nagyvárad. From 1965-71 she studied ceramic art under Ana Lupaș and Mircea Spătaru at the Ion Andreescu Academy of Fine Arts in Cluj – Napoca/Kolozsvár. She settled in Oradea/Nagyvárad, where for a time she was a museologist at the Körös Museum. From 1975-77, as a freelance artist, she taught ceramic art at the Art Lyceum in Oradea/Nagyvárad. She took part in the foundation of the Oradea/Nagyvárad Christian Research Centre. Subsequently, from 2003-2006, she ran courses in paper art and color theory at the Faculty of Art of the Partium Christian University (Oradea/ Nagyvárad). In 2006 she earned a doctorate from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest. Between 2008 and 2010 she teaches Ceramic Art at the West University of Timișoara. Her writings on art have been published by the following journals: Fáklya (Torch), Korunk (Our Times), and A Hét (The Week). She regularly attends professional conferences and art camps. She has held membership of the Union of Fine Arts in Romania since 1975 and has served as the deputy chairwoman of the Oradea/Nagyvárad branch since 2002. She has also been a member of the Barabás Miklós Guild since its reconstitution in 1944. Since 1977 she has been board member of the European Association of Christian Artists (Rotterdam), and she has held membership of the European Academy if Culture and the Arts since 2002 and the Hungarian Academy of Art since 2005. In 2013 she became a member of the „We are Europe” Association (Düsseldorf). She also holds membership of the Association of Hungarian Fine and Applied Artists.
